Be As A Tree Exercise

Becoming the tree of your own life

Tu B'shvat, the 15th of Shevat (February) in the Jewish calendar marks the New Year of the Trees. Here is an imagery exercise to  be as a tree from Encyclopedia of Mental Imagery: Colette Aboulker-Muscat's 2100 Visualization Exercises for Personal Development, Healing, and Self-knowledge

 Do this exercise once in the morning for 7 days. 

  • Sit up in a chair and close your eyes.
  • Breath out three times slowly (long slow exhalations through the mouth, and normal inhalations through the nose).
  • Recognize the most important task you have accomplished in the past Year.  
  • Ask yourself how you are expressing this actual task through your body.
  • Breathe out one time.
  • Feel like a tree. Sense your feet going down to the earth. 
  • Sense your hands going up toward heaven. Feel pulled in different directions yet at the same time attuned with all of them.
  • Breathe out one time.
  • Feel your body as one and start dancing.
  • Breathe out and open your eyes.
