Imagery for Children: The Dolphin Ride and the Rainbow

Children are excellent imagers and can be taught to do imagery at a young age to heal from illness, reduce anxiety and fear, change their self image, and cope with family and school issues.

Here are two imagery exercises for children created by Barbarah Fedoroff.

The Dolphin Ride:

  • Close your eyes. Breathe out once.
  • See yourself at the beach playing in the water.
  • Suddenly, a dolphin swims nearby and invites you to play.
  • What do you do with the dolphin?
  • What does the dolphin say to you?
  • Breathe out once and open your eyes.

The Rainbow:

  • Close your eyes.
  • See a rainbow in the sky.
  • Know that you can walk over the rainbow to the other side.
  • What happens on your walk?
  • What do you find there?
  • Breathe out once and open your eyes.
